1AND he sayd to me: In the beginning of the terrestial world, and before the entrances of the world stood, and before the inuentions of the winds blew,stylus2and before the voices of thunders sounded, and before the splendours of lightning did shine, and before the fundations of paradise were confirmed,stylus3and before the faire flowers were seene, and before the mouing powers were established, & before the innumerable armies of Angels were gathered together,stylus4and before the heights of the ayre were aduanced, and before the spaces of the firmaments were named, and before the footestole of Sion was designed,stylus5and before the present yeres were sought out, and before the inuentions of them that now sinne, were abalienated, and were sealed they that haue gathered faith to treasure:stylus6then did I consider these thinges, and they were made by me alone, and by none other: as also the end by me, and by none other.stylus7And I answered, and sayd: What shal be the separation of times? or when shal be the end of the former? or the beginning of the folowing?stylus8And he sayd to me: From Abraham vnto Isaac, when Iacob and Esau were borne of him, the hand of Iacob held the heele of Esau fro the beginning.stylus9For the end of this world is Esau, and the beginning of the folowing Iacob.stylus10The hand of a man is the end, and the beginning of a man is the hand: seeke not other thinges betwen the extremes Esdras.stylus11And I answered, and sayd: O Lord dominatour, if I haue found grace before thine eyes,stylus12shew to thy seruant the end of thy signes, whereof thou shewedst me a part the night before last.stylus13And he answered, and sayd to me: Rise vpon thy feete, and heare a most ful loud voice.stylus14And it shal be as it were a motion, neither shal the place be moued, wheron thou standest.stylus15Therefore when it speaketh be not afrayd: for of the end is the word, & the fundations of the earth shal vnderstand.stylus16For concerning them is the speach, tremble it shal and be moued: for it knoweth that their end must be changed.stylus17And it came to passe, when I had had heard, I rose vpon my fete, and heard, and behold a voice speaking, and the sound thereof, as the sound of manie waters:stylus18and it sayd: Behold the dayes come, & it shal be, when I wil begin to approche to visite ye dwellers on the earth:stylus19and when I wil begin to make inquisition of them, that haue vniustly hurt with their :niustice, and when the humilitie of Sion shal be fulfilled.stylus20And when the world that shal vanish away, shal be sealed, I wil doe these signes: bookes shal be opened before the face of the firmament, and al shal see together.stylus21And infants of one yeare shal speake with their voices, and wemen with child shal bring forth vntimely children of three or foure monethes, and they shal liue, and shal be raysed vp.stylus22And sodenly shal appeare sowen places not sowen, and ful cellars shal sodenly be found emptie:stylus23and the trumpet shal sound, which when al shal heare, they shal sodenly be afrayd.stylus24And it shal be in that time, freindes shal fight against freindes as enemies, and the earth shal stand in feare with them that inhabite it: and the vaynes of the fountaines shal stand, and shal not runne in three houres.stylus25And it shal be: euerie one that shal be left of al these, which I haue foretold thee, he shal be saued, and shal see my saluation, and the end of your world.stylus26And men shal see that are receiued, which haue not tasted death from their natiuitie: and the hart of the inhabitantes shal be changed, and turned into an other sense.stylus27For euil shal be destroyed, and guile shal be extinguished.stylus28And faith shal florish, and corruption shal be ouercome, and truth shal be shewed, which remained without fruite manie dayes.stylus29And it came to passe, when he spake to me, and behold by litle and litle the place was moued, wheron I stood.stylus30And he sayd to me: These thinges I came to shew thee.stylus31If therefore thou wilt pray againe and fast seuen dayes more, I wil tel thee againe greater thinges by day, then I haue heard.stylus32For thy voice is heard before the Highest: for the Strong hath sene thy righteousnes, and prouided thy chastitie, which thou hast had from thy youth.stylus33And therefore he hath sent me to shew thee al these thinges, and to say to thee: Be of good chere, and feare not,stylus34and hasten not with the former times to thinke vaine thinges, that thou mayst not hasten with the later times.stylus35And it came to passe after this, and I wept againe, and fasted seuen dayes in like maner, that I might fulfil the three weekes, which were told me.stylus36And in the eight night my hart was trubled againe in me, and I began to speake before the Highest.stylus37For my spirit was kindled excedingly, and my soule was in distresse.stylus38And I sayd: O Lord, thou speaking didst speake from the beginning of the creature in the first day, saying: Let heauen and earth be made, and thy word was a perfect worke.stylus39And then was the spirit, and darknesses were caried about and silence: the sound of mans voice was not yet from thee.stylus40Then commandedst thou a ray of light to be brought forth of thy treasures, that then thy worke might appeare.stylus41And in the second day thou madest the spirit of the firmament, & commandedst it to make a partition betwen the waters and the waters, that one part might be aboue, and the other remaine beneth.stylus42And in the third day thou didst command the waters to be gathered in the seuenth part of the earth: but six partes thou didst drie vp and preserue, to the intent that of these some being sowen of God might serue to tillage.stylus43For thy word proceding forth, the worke is incontinent.stylus44For forthwith there came forth great and innumerable fruite, and manie pleasures of tastes, and flowers of mutable colour, and odours of inuestigable smel: and in the third day these thinges were made.stylus45And in the fourth day thou commandedst the brightnes of the sunne to appear, the light of the moone, the disposition of the starres:stylus46& commandedst them that they should doe seruice to man, who was to be formed.stylus47And in the fift day thou saydst to the seuenth part, where the water was gathered, that it should bring forth beastes, foules, and fishes: and so it was done.stylus48The dumme water and without soule, brought forth liuing creatures, as it was commanded it, that therby the nations might declare thy meruelous workes.stylus49And then thou didst preserue two liuing creatures: the name of the one thou calledst Enoch, and the name of the second thou calledst Leuiathan.stylus50And thou didst separate them the one from the other: for the seuenth part, where the water was gathered, could not conteyne them.stylus51And thou gauest to Enoch one part, which was dried vp the third day, that he should dwel in it, where are a thousand mountaines.stylus52But to Leuiathan thou gauest the seuenth part humid, and hast kept him to deuoure him whom thou wilt, and when thou wilt.stylus53And in the sixt day thou commandedst the earth, that it should bring forth before thee cattel, & beastes, and creeping thinges.stylus54And ouer these, Adam, whom thou ordeinedst prince ouer al the workes, which thou madest, & of him we are al begotten, & the people whom thou hast chosen.stylus55And al these thinges I haue spoken before thee O Lord, because thou has sayd that thou hast created the world for our sakes.stylus56But the rest of the nations borne of Adam, thou hast sayd to be nothing, and to be like spittle, and as the dropping of a vessel thou hast likened the abundance of them.stylus57And now Lord behold, these nations, which were reputed as nothing, haue begune to haue dominion ouer vs, and to deuoure vs.stylus58But we thy people, whom thou hast called thy first borne, thy onlie begotten, thy most deere, are geuen into their handes.stylus59And if the world be created for vs, why doe not we possesse the inheritance of the world? how long shal this be?stylus
