Isaiah 58:6
"Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?"

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Godly fasting results in justice, not just hunger. It leads to freedom for others.

Lord, let my fasting lead to action. Show me the chains of injustice around me that I can help break. Use me to set the oppressed free. Amen.
