THE GOSPEL

Matthew 27

1Now when morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
Mark 15:1, Mark 15:1, John 18:28, John 18:28, Luke 22:66
2and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him up to Pilate, the governor.
Acts 3:13, Matthew 20:19, Acts 3:13, Matthew 20:19, 1 Timothy 6:13
3Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that Jesus was condemned, felt remorse, and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
2 Corinthians 7:10, 2 Corinthians 7:10, Luke 22:47, Luke 22:48, Job 20:15
4saying, "I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? You see to it."
Luke 23:22, Hebrews 7:26, Exodus 9:27, Luke 23:41, Titus 1:16
5He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary, and departed. He went away and hanged himself.
Acts 1:18, Acts 1:19, Acts 1:18, Acts 1:19, 2 Samuel 17:23
6The chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said, "It's not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood."
Luke 6:7, Luke 6:9, Deuteronomy 23:18, Luke 6:7, Luke 6:9
7They took counsel, and bought the potter's field with them, to bury strangers in.
8Therefore that field was called "The Field of Blood" to this day.
Acts 1:19, Acts 1:19, Matthew 28:15, Matthew 28:15, Joshua 4:9
9Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, "They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him upon whom a price had been set, whom some of the sons of Israel priced,
Zechariah 11:12, Zechariah 11:13, Zechariah 11:12, Zechariah 11:13, Matthew 1:22
10and they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me."
Zechariah 11:13, Zechariah 11:13
11Now Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus said to him, "So you say."
Mark 15:2, Mark 15:5, Luke 23:2, Luke 23:3, Mark 15:2
12When he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
Matthew 26:63, Matthew 26:63, Isaiah 53:7, Isaiah 53:7, 1 Peter 2:23
13Then Pilate said to him, "Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?"
Matthew 26:62, Matthew 26:62, Acts 22:24, John 18:35, Acts 22:24
14He gave him no answer, not even one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.
Isaiah 8:18, Isaiah 8:18, Psalms 71:7, 1 Corinthians 4:9, Zechariah 3:8
15Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the multitude one prisoner, whom they desired.
John 19:16, Acts 25:9, John 18:38, John 18:40, Mark 15:6
16They had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
Mark 15:7, Mark 15:7, Romans 1:32, Luke 23:18, Luke 23:19
17When therefore they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus, who is called the Messiah?"
John 19:15, John 19:15, 1 Kings 18:21, Joshua 24:15, Mark 15:9
18For he knew that because of envy they had delivered him up.
Proverbs 27:4, Proverbs 27:4, Mark 15:10, Acts 5:17, Mark 15:10
19While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, "Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him."
Matthew 27:24, Matthew 27:24, 1 Peter 2:22, John 19:13, Luke 23:47
20Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes to ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
Acts 3:14, Acts 3:15, Acts 3:14, Acts 3:15, John 19:15
21But the governor answered them, "Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" They said, "Barabbas!"
22Pilate said to them, "What then shall I do to Jesus, who is called the Messiah?" They all said, "Let him be crucified!"
Isaiah 53:2, Isaiah 53:3, Isaiah 53:2, Isaiah 53:3, Acts 13:38

Acts 23:12, Acts 23:15, Genesis 37:18, Genesis 37:19, Acts 7:57
24So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this man. You see to it."
Psalms 26:6, Matthew 27:4, Psalms 26:6, Matthew 27:4, 2 Corinthians 5:21
25All the people answered, "May his blood be on us, and on our children!"

26Then he released to them Barabbas, but Jesus he flogged and delivered to be crucified.

28They stripped him, and put a scarlet robe on him.
Luke 23:11, Mark 15:17, John 19:2, John 19:5, Luke 23:11
29They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him, and mocked him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"
