THE GOSPEL

John 16

1"These things have I spoken to you, so that you would not be caused to stumble.
1 Peter 2:8, 1 Peter 2:8, Matthew 13:21, Matthew 26:31, Matthew 26:33
2They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time comes that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.
John 9:22, John 9:22, Acts 26:9, Acts 26:11, Acts 26:9
3They will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me.
John 15:21, John 15:21, John 17:25, John 17:25, John 8:55
4But I have told you these things, so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I did not tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.
John 14:29, John 14:29, Mark 13:23, Mark 13:23, John 13:19
5But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?'
John 13:36, John 13:36, John 7:33, John 7:33, John 16:28
6But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.
John 14:1, John 14:1, Luke 24:17, John 20:11, John 20:15
7Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Counselor won't come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
John 14:26, John 14:26, John 15:26, John 14:16, John 14:17
8When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;
Jude 1:15, Jude 1:15, Acts 2:37, Acts 2:37, Zechariah 12:10
9about sin, because they do not believe in me;
John 15:22, John 15:25, John 15:22, John 15:25, John 8:23
10about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, and you won't see me any more;
Romans 10:3, Romans 10:4, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 3:18, Romans 10:3
11about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.
John 12:31, John 12:31, 1 John 3:8, 1 John 3:8, Colossians 2:15
12"I have yet many things to tell you, but you cannot bear them now.
John 15:15, Mark 4:33, John 15:15, Mark 4:33, Acts 1:3
13However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.
John 14:26, John 14:26, 1 Corinthians 2:10, 1 Corinthians 2:13, 1 Corinthians 2:10
14He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you.
1 John 4:13, 1 John 4:14, 1 John 4:13, 1 John 4:14, 2 Corinthians 3:14
15All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine, and will declare it to you.
John 17:10, John 17:10, Matthew 11:27, John 3:35, Matthew 11:27
16A little while, and you will no longer see me. Again a little while, and you will see me."
John 7:33, John 7:33, Acts 1:3, John 14:18, John 14:24
17Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, "What is this that he says to us, 'A little while, and you won't see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;' and, 'Because I go to the Father?'"
John 16:16, John 16:5, Mark 9:32, John 16:16, John 16:5
18They said therefore, "What is this that he says, 'A little while?' We do not know what he is saying."
Luke 24:25, Luke 24:25, Hebrews 5:12, Matthew 16:9, Matthew 16:11
19Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, "Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, 'A little while, and you won't see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?'
John 16:30, John 16:16, John 14:19, John 16:30, John 16:16
20Truly, truly, I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.
James 1:2, James 1:2, Matthew 5:4, Matthew 5:4, Revelation 7:14
21A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow, because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she does not remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.
Psalms 113:9, Psalms 113:9, Jeremiah 30:6, Jeremiah 30:7, Isaiah 13:8
22Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
1 Peter 1:8, 1 Peter 1:8, Acts 13:52, Acts 13:52, John 16:6
23"In that day you will ask me no questions. Truly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
John 15:7, John 15:7, John 14:13, John 14:14, John 14:13
24Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.
Matthew 7:7, Matthew 7:8, Matthew 7:7, Matthew 7:8, James 4:2
25I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father.
John 16:12, John 16:12, John 16:28, John 16:29, John 16:28
26In that day you will ask in my name; and I do not say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you,
Romans 8:34, Romans 8:34, John 17:19, John 17:9, John 17:24
27for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from God.
John 14:21, John 14:21, John 14:23, John 14:23, John 17:23
28I came out from the Father, and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father."
John 13:1, John 13:1, John 13:3, John 13:3, John 8:14
29His disciples said to him, "Behold, now you speak plainly, and speak no figures of speech.
John 16:25, John 16:25
30Now we know that you know all things, and do not need for anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came forth from God."
John 21:17, John 21:17, Hebrews 4:13, John 17:8, Hebrews 4:13
31Jesus answered them, "Do you now believe?
Luke 9:44, Luke 9:45, John 13:38, Luke 9:44, Luke 9:45
32Behold, the time is coming, yes, and has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
Zechariah 13:7, Zechariah 13:7, Matthew 26:31, Matthew 26:31, John 8:29
33I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world."
