2 Peter
Growing in Grace
infoBook Overview
This is Peter's farewell address, written shortly before his execution. The tone is urgent. He warns the church about "wolves in sheep's clothing"—leaders who were twisting Scripture and encouraging sexual immorality. These false teachers were also mocking the idea that Jesus was coming back, saying, "Everything goes on as it has since the beginning."
Peter assures them that God is not slow, but patient, wanting everyone to come to repentance. He describes the eventual destruction of the world by fire and urges believers to live holy lives while they wait. Peter fought against false knowledge, but the next author gives us the "tests" to know if we are truly in the light in 1 John.
