이사야 40:3
"외치는 자의 소리여 가로되 너희는 광야에서 여호와의 길을 예비하라 사막에서 우리 하나님의 대로를 평탄케 하라"

주의 길을 예비하라. 고대에는 왕이 도착하기 위해 길을 평탄하게 했다. 대림절은 영적 도로 공사의 시간이다. 영광의 왕께서 들어오시도록 당신의 마음에서 제거해야 할 걸림돌—교만, 쓴뿌리, 산만함—은 무엇인가? 주님의 임재로 가는 길은 회개와 겸손으로 포장되어 있다.
