Zadok

Zadok was a High Priest from the line of Eleazar, son of Aaron, whose unwavering faithfulness established a priestly dynasty that would last for centuries. He first appears as a young warrior joining David's army and soon rose to a position of leadership in the priesthood alongside Abiathar.

His defining trait was his loyalty to the Davidic covenant. When Absalom rebelled, Zadok stayed with David, even offering to bring the Ark into the wilderness before David sent him back to act as a spy. Most crucially, when Adonijah attempted to seize the throne, Zadok remained loyal to David's choice of Solomon. He was the priest who officially anointed Solomon as king at Gihon. For his fidelity, he became the sole High Priest, and his lineage was later honored during the Babylonian exile and in the prophetic visions of Ezekiel as the only line permitted to minister in the future temple sanctuary.
