Lamech, the son of Methuselah, was the last of the righteous line of Seth to be born into the original pre-flood world before the judgment was declared. Living for 777 years, he witnessed the terrifying escalation of human wickedness that eventually prompted God to send the Flood. However, Lamech’s life was defined not by the surrounding darkness, but by a persistent hope for divine relief.
Upon the birth of his son Noah, Lamech uttered a prophetic blessing, naming the boy "Comfort" (Noah) and predicting that he would bring relief from the painful toil caused by the curse on the ground.
